Storyraise's key features & services.
Storyraise is a digital storytelling solution that allows nonprofits, schools, and foundations to create personalized digital reports and videos at scale. The solution focuses on web-based reports and videos for communications, donor relations, and fundraising teams, and is complemented with features such as high-tech story collection and analytics.
Reports
Reports let organizations build one digital report and send a personalized version to hundreds or thousands of donors, including each recipient's name and the stories most relevant to them. Report types include impact reports, event recaps, endowment fund reports, and grant reports. Drag-and-drop templates support interactive elements like embedded video and call-to-action buttons.
Video
Video applies the same personalization approach to video content. Organizations create one video, and Storyraise automatically generates a tailored version for each donor, using donor data rather than requiring hundreds of individually recorded messages.
Collect
Collect is a central hub for gathering, storing, and organizing stories and media assets from an organization's community. Content can be tagged and dropped directly into reports and videos. This feature is most useful for larger organizations that manage significant variation in the stories they tell across donor segments.
Analytics
Analytics tracks engagement across every report and video an organization shares through the Storyraise Insights dashboard. Tracked metrics include opens, constituents reached, sections viewed, top regions by views, time spent, and engagement scores.
Who we serve.
Storyraise is built for organizations with established donor relationships that need better ways to demonstrate impact and drive retention.
Key verticals include:
The typical Storyraise customer works in donor relations, donor stewardship, or communications at a large or fast-growing nonprofit, independent school, healthcare organization, or higher-education foundation. Common titles include Director of Donor Relations, Director of Donor Stewardship, and Director of Communications, typically at the director level or above.
Target organization categories include healthcare foundations, disease foundations, private K-12 schools, higher education foundations, and other nonprofits in areas such as faith, community, social justice, environment, and youth development.
How we help our customers.
Storyraise helps organizations overcome several common donor engagement challenges, including:
Generic, unpersonalized communications
Organizations that send the same impact report or annual fund letter to every donor, regardless of giving history or interests, often see donor retention suffer. Storyraise's personalization engine tailors reports and videos to each recipient without requiring staff to build separate versions by hand.
Limited staff bandwidth
Development teams trying to personalize stewardship manually as their donor base grows either burn out or cut corners. Storyraise automates personalization so meaningful stewardship doesn't require proportional staff growth.
Disorganized story and asset collection
Many organizations collect stories and media but lack a system to organize and reuse them, so content ends up scattered across inboxes and shared drives. Storyraise's Collect feature centralizes assets and makes them easy to drop into future campaigns.
Missed upgrade opportunities
Donors who don't see their specific impact reflected in communications are less likely to feel their gift mattered, which can lead to lapse. Personalized communications that speak to a donor's giving history and interests are more likely to prompt increased giving and strengthen long-term loyalty.
Static, low-engagement formats
Mass emails and static documents often fall short for mid-level and major donors whose continued support depends on feeling seen. Storyraise's interactive reports and videos give organizations a more compelling stewardship format than static communications allow.
Company history
Storyraise was founded in 2019 by Josh Kligman and Jeff Rum, initially under the name Yearly, with a focus on digital annual reports for nonprofits. Both founders have spent most of their careers working with and at nonprofits, and built the company around a shared observation: donors often don't understand how their gifts create impact, and strong storytelling is one of the most effective ways to drive donor retention.
The company's offerings expanded over time to include personalized video, and Yearly rebranded to Storyraise in 2024.
Storyraise is a privately owned company whose majority shareholders include founders Josh Kligman and Jeff Rum. According to Crunchbase, the company received five rounds of venture funding between 2021 and 2026. Storyraise does not currently anticipate future funding milestones.
Mission statement
Storyraise helps nonprofits, schools, and foundations transform how they share their impact through digital experiences that deepen donor connection, inspire generosity, and deliver meaningful results.
